A great guide if you want a more in depth experience of Saigon then the more anodyne popular guidebooks most tourists use. Very sensible advice that makes it easy to navigate what would otherwise be a somewhat daunting city for a westerners, and find some hidden jewels of restaurants and coffee shops.

The guide is short and informative. It is a very realistic and useful guide to exploring Saigon. If you plan on visiting Saigon, and want a local's insight on things, a few bucks to Elly is better than fifty, (or even a hundred!) to a gangster.

We landed Saigon and looked for an airport cab:270,000 dong for the first driver that approached us.128,000 dong for the Elly-recommended Vinasun cab.Right out of the gate we were money ahead! It's a pleasantly readable book that made Elly's Saigon thoroughly enjoyable. Other books focus on what to see and do, Elly focuses on the nuts and bolts of getting from point A to point B and how to enjoy the process.

Of all the guides I have read on Saigon this is simply one of the best! A short, quick read but packed full of useful information.

The best part of this book for me is that the classic, original version has been preserved as I am not a fan of the modernization of the classics. The illustrations are nice and correspond very well to the story, making it easy for younger children to follow along. The book, however, is flimsy and tears/falls apart easily. I still gave it 5 stars because of the price.

When I purchased this book, I was hoping for a book with colorful illustrations that still followed the classic "Goldilocks" story. Fortunately, I got both. We have another version where the artwork was sketched in black and white, and even though the story was perfect, my daughter wasn't the least bit interested in any of the pictures.This book however, has colorful artwork on each page which could basically tell the story itself. We've enjoyed reading it over and over, and I've now passed it down to my younger nephew since my daughter has outgrown the story. To this day though, she still remembers this book and the other classics in the set.The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the book is a bit flimsy, and the pages are pretty thin. It will get ripped easily by children if you are not careful. Other than that, it's a good bedtime or anytime read for children.

This series of classic children's books has nice illustrations. I have a more modern very of the Three Bears, but the illustrations fail to have the right number of bowls, or chairs, or beds, as the case may be, on the page I'm reading to my granddaughter. That's confusing to toddlers who are learning to count. This book has toddler friendly illustrations so is much better for our purposes. I bought this to go with a felt story board. My granddaughter and I love it.

I was looking for a good basic version of several familiar traditional tales for my son, nearly 3. I've been very pleased with this whole series. The tales, Goldilocks included, are the basically the traditional versions, in language accessible to today's audience. Some of the harsher realities of the fairy tales are softened. But what pleases me most of all is that the repetitive classic lines we all remember from childhood are present! Little ones can commit those refrains to memory (and use them to repeat the story themselves!). It is also pleasing to me that the text, while simple, is not bland. In fact there is enough emotion and intrigue to capture the interest of the littlest listeners while not overwhelming them. And there are plenty of more difficult vocabulary words to challenge little ears. The illustrations in The Three Little Pigs are my favorite, but the others in the series are nice, too. Overall, a wonderful introduction of traditional tales to the younger listeners! Thank you!

It's the classic story you grew up with. What is there not to like??? This is my daughters favorite book so we bought this and had it shipped to Grandma's house while my wife was up there with the kids. It was easier to get it shipped via Amazon than it was for us to have to worry about packing it (the other copy that we have is in a very large story book - but my daughter only likes to read this one story). With the way that the airlines charge for luggage these days every pound counts, so rather than waste a pound or so with the big book we just had this shipped up there. It was simple and waiting for them when they got there.

We need more of these age-old classics for children; they're an important part of the history of children's literature. And, we need to pass it on to the children in all our families today.

Just as I remember it when I was a child. We recently had a baby shower for my daughter and the invitation requested a favorite childhood story be given and signed in place of a card. She received a nice selection of older classic stories, as well as, several newer titles. It was a lovely idea and she now has a great start on a home library for our grandson!

Wonderful book on SBCD pottery!

I had wanted someone to write a book about this studio. However, the first thing that caught my attention was that there was no price guide. WHAT? An antiques book on an art studio and no price guide-unbelievable and unheard of. What good is a book today for antiquers whom the majority buy and sell for awhile. They need a price guide to at least have a place to start. I am certainly glad I did not pay $39.95+shipping & handling as most book companies and individuals wanted. I am definitely happy that I got the book much cheaper through Amazon. The photography was very nice and the writing factual and interesting.

This book says that technology by itself is neutral. Technology can be used for good or bad purposes. She said that although some people know about some of the incredible great benefits of the Internet, some people are unaware of some of the dangers of the Internet. To a large degree, the younger a person is, the number of friends a person has on a social network increases. This is what a Facebook 2014 study revealed: For those over 65 years old, the average number of Facebook friends in 102. For those between 45 and 54 years old, the average is 220. For those people 25 to 35 years old, the average number is 360. For those 18 to 24, the average number is 649. When a child or a young adult has a large number of Facebook friends, we’re often not talking about an intimate group of friends. Many of these Facebook friends aren’t true deep friends in the real-world sense. They often don’t deeply know much and care about you. They are online contacts. Spending more time on social media can sometimes have young adults and children less socially competent, not more. In the real world, if five friends turn on a person, it is bad enough. Now image if one thousand of your Facebook friends turned against you, not many young adults and children would have the social skills to deal with that. Not many older adults too would have the social skills to deal with that too. The young adult or child can be unfairly cyber bullied and hypersensitive to criticism. A lot of times on the Facebook, the more friends a person has on Facebook, the more real world friends they don’t have.

I was drawn to this book because I felt as though there was something wrong with me. I spent a lot of time on social media but hardly ever posted anything. My posts were months apart but I kept looking at everyone's crap on a daily basis. After I read this book I asked myself,"why do I fill my time with other people's narcissism?" Mary Aiken opened my eyes a little bit and made take a step back.

Wonderfully written book about the influence of internet access on behavior. I'm a college grad with a science degree and was expecting a book laden with dry research. Aiken presents the research in a way that is concise and easily digestible. Her claims can be mistaken for bias or received with skeptics from the layman because the results of the research and her conclusions are pretty significant. However, those familiar with science or at the least basic research methods will find it immensely insightful.

Good book! I bought this for my daughter who has my grand daughter and she is growing up in this cyber world. My hope is to add to my daughters ability to fully understand how our world of instant connection to 'everyone and everything" might affect her children and how to help them through it and keep them safe.

I chose this book for philosophy club and it was very informative. It is interesting to see how slowly we allow these things to invade our lives and manipulate us. I was saddened to read how people prefer to focus on their cellphones instead of the people right around them. What was specifically disturbing was the nursing mothers who were focused on their cellphones instead of their child.

Should be read by every parent, a well researched and readable account of the effect technology has on the human brain. Helpful hints on ways to understand and cope with the ways cyber technology controls our lives.

A delicious and necessary book. Aiken did a brilliant job researching and revealing the challenges and realities of living in the world the web is and will create. Aiken explains the consequences and symptoms with real stories based on her research and CSI: Cyber experiences.

Highly recommend. Interesting to see how The internet is changing our daily lives. Not pushy on her opinion. Easy to read. Recommend high school audience or older.
