This book was a complete life change for me. My entire life I have always been moody, emotionally unstable, tossed to and fro by my thoughts, bubbling with enthusiasm one moment and then sulking in a stupor the next. My last relationship was destroyed by such a mindset. Although I had ideas of what had gone wrong, this book eloquently expounded on ideas that I had vague thoughts of, but was unable to put into words. The first time I was able to put the knowledge I learned from this book into practice was a emotionally explosive moment as I realized that I finally was able to control my thoughts and take a hold of my mind. Would highly recommend this book to any and all.

This is easily one of the best books that I have read. It isn't long, but it is packed with more information than you can wrap your head around. I have read it 4 times since I got it 3 months ago, and I am working on it again. I loved this book so much that when I was in the middle of the second chapter, I got back on Amazon and ordered another 2 copies of it. Then when I finished it I went to order 3 more but I couldn't because they were still sold out from the time that I ordered the other 2. So I had to wait for them to print more, then I did order 3 more, so I have 6 copies now and I don't regret it at all.It just feels like every paragraph is pure gold honestly, sometimes it took me 20 minutes to make it through one page because of the realizations that I was having, and I needed to take time to scribble my notes into the margins. There is nothing in this book that doesn't absolutely need to be there, so you can be sure that it is worth your time and you won't be reading any filler material whatsoever. This will change your perspective on life, and if you actually do the things that are here, you change yourself. I honestly saw a change in how happy I was by doing the things that James Allen said. This is basically scripture to me now.The only complaint that I have isn't about the book, it's more about me, because I wish that I was better at doing the things outlined in this book because I know that it would help me out a ton. So that is the next goal, make sure that I am doing the things here.

This is not a smooth, flowing read. It's full of words the average person doesn't use and speech patterns of a time now past. This may or may not be part of its charm and effect. It does however illustrate quite well the though patterns of the champions of our world and lay clear instructions for success in life. Quite simply you are what you think. It's not a book on getting rich or making friends or being happy. It's a book that reminds you of the basic principals of thought and how your thoughts effect every aspect of life. A short little reminder that your mind is your greatest asset or your biggest liability.

This is one the smallest books I've read in my life and yet most impactful and eye-opening book. This book put a lot of stress on an idea that Man is what he thinks he becomes and what he does and it's not the circumstances which make him but he makes the circumstance. If you are going through or ever been through a rough patch in your life you need to read this book. If you've ever been successful or are successful in your life you need to read this. If you are rich or ever have been rich, you need to read this book. If you are poor or was poor at one time in your life you need to read it. If you are depressed or have been depressed, you need to read this book and at-last if you are happy or were happy in your life you need to read this book. In short, no matter what the circumstance is you're going through, you need to read this book not once, not twice but at least a dozen times in your life!

"Man's mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed-seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind. Just as a gardener cultivates his plot, keeping it free from weeds, and growing the flowers and fruits which he requires, so may a man tend the garden of his mind, weeding out all the wrong, useless, and impure thoughts, and cultivating toward perfection the flowers and fruits of right, useful, and pure thoughts. By pursuing this process, a man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life."

I really love this book and it's teaching. I want to change my life in every area and it's up to me alone. It's teaching is very empowering. It's really up to me and when I change my mind I will change my life and it starts with my thinking. I bought 2 more books from my teenage nephews because the sooner they can learn to control their thinking and acquire what they really want out of life the better. I plan to read this book once a month for 6 month so the principles can sink in plus it's less than 80 pages.

This book packs more power than many of the best selling books in the crowded field combined. You will be better of reading this short book and following through on half of it than buying all of Robbins material and attending his seminars. Not that Tony Robbins and his colleagues does not have valuable lessons to teach, it's just that this book does such a great job in less than 50 pages that any other approach to self improvement seams a waste of time. Read it and then go do it.

#2,799 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

Cassandra Clare is a gifted writer and has created a fun universe with her shadowhunters series. I cannot fault her writing skills or story telling ability. In this final book, there is a good payoff for previous readers with characters from the earlier series playing seminal roles. However, it seems to come at a sacrifice of newer characters who were created for the dark artifices series. For example, the titular Lady of Air and Darkness is hardly featured.A number of the new characters are heavily built up as important then sidelined and hastily packed away, probably in the hopes of generating enough interest to score another 3-book deal with the publishers. Or perhaps the writer wrote herself into a hole and couldn't be bothered to resolve their storylines.I'm really irritated that I waited almost 2 years for this.

I felt like I was being beaten over the head with the author’s political agenda. The entire plot of good shadow hunter verses bad shadow hunter was obviously a reference to democrats and republicans with the head evil shadow hunter being Trump. It really got old after a while. Entire book was annoying

I read, "The Dark Artifacts" series because I was very interested in Julian and Emma's story. Books one and two were awesome. The final book in the trilogy is okay, but its less about Julian and Emma, and more about polyamorous, and gay relationships, and transgender persons. The underlying story was good, but all the unusual relationships were in the forefront. I felt really strongly that the author was going over board with the relationships and playing to the fad of LBGT .Okay I get it, there are a lot of different types of relationships in the world, and people are good no matter their sexual orientation. Anyway, I liked the book and I hope there is a story coming featuring Kit, Dru, Ash, and Ty.

Totally obnoxious.(I am writing this to the author, I hope she reads it!)I cannot believe you hijacked my much anticipated vacation into a beautifully crafted fantastical world and turned into a political commentary! Your about as subtle as a club to the head.Let’s see there is a wall, registration of immigrants, transgender issues, gay marriage, the breakdown of social morals concerning monogamy and so so much more. There is a cat as well, which I enjoyed until you started clubbing me over the head...I suppose you imagine yourself to be Lewis Carroll.Honestly? If you were going to take all of this on, did you have to try to cram into one book? What a disappointing mess. You ruined a beautifully crafted series. Why do you think people read fantasy? Because we spend most of our lives wrestling with social injustice, gender inequality, gender issues, sexuality and the politics of power. And lastly, Iet me make myself perfectly clear, it’s not that I care about the opinions espoused in this book on these issues. No, I object to the sloppy and pathetic way you crammed it into ONE book, the last book in a FANTASY series!Next time I’m tempted to read one of your books, I’ll just watch 6 hours of CNN instead.

Some spoilers ahead. Wish I could do half stars, as I'd give this 3.5.I will admit that this was not my favorite book in the series. Some romantic elements felt quite rushed, and I'll probably have to reread the first two books to see if I missed some subtle clues involving a certain love triangle, but I wasn't mad at the resolution, even if it was so drawn out. They're happy! They're not! They cannot be together! They can be together! No problems or side eyes at all? While I would love to believe people are open and understanding, the entire plot of this book is how people aren't open and understanding, so I found their Happy Ever After a little too easy. I certainly appreciated the unique and quite progressive way the characters' relationship was settled instead of using the tired tropes of most love triangles, but I still felt dissatisfied with it overall. To name a book after a character sets a certain expectation. That expectation is that said character will be involved in the story in some important way. That was not the case with this book. I was also a little lost on her motivation. Her mood swings and odd behavior were never addressed, which I would have liked. Was it the resurrection? Was it the torture? Where did her book go? Why did the fey name her so? Why why why and no answers. Maybe I read too fast and missed something.Overall, I liked it, but I found it frustrating and random in more than a few places. I would have appreciated a more satisfying ending, and not just the set up for another series. I also found the idea of everyone just giving up their ancestral home a bit too easy. Maybe that's the best description...After all the strife, all the problems got little bows of perfect endings and very little conflict. The fate of the cohort was especially ludicrous, and yet another "loose end" I assume will be picked up in the next series or so.Much more sexytime in this book, that's for sure.I liked the continuation of more character POVs, but it did make the book the tome it is.I will continue to read Clare's books. The humor was much more prevalent in this book, and Aline was the queen of the snark and I need more of her. I started reading Clare because of the Very Secret Diaries and I hope more of the books will include her humor.

Loving these characters and this world SO much, I have to say I was highly disappointed! Too many characters, too many moving plots...For all her presence and power potential Annabel was utterly wasted as a character! Felt like the complete second half of the book was ripped from Buffy the Vampire and so was not original and disappointing! The ending utterly maddening and the Epilouge worse! Spent so much time setting up characters Dru, Ty, Kit, Ash, for the final series that the problems in this series were resolved unrealistically and cheapened... I LOVED every story in the Ghosts of the Shadowmarket so I will give those characters another chance...

#22,811 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

In the first installment of The Raven Boys, you're introduced to a sixteen year old girl named blue. Everyone in her family is a psychic except for her. All her life her psychic kin have told her that she will kill her true love if they kissed. Although she is not psychic, she has the ability to heighten the power that others have. She is a walking battery. Her aunt, Neeve, comes to town, and after one look at Blue she announces that this year she will find her true love. Through a series of events she finds him to be a handsome man named Richard Gansey III (Gansey). There are only a few problems with this revelation. 1. He's a Raven Boy, an obnoxious group of boys named after their pre ivy league's mascot. Which means he's a rich dick.2. When she meets rich dick he acts like a rich dick by offering her money to go on a date with his shy but adorable friend, Adam.3. At a corpse road ritual, a few nights prior she found out that by the end of the year, Gansy might die.Gansy turns out to be great at looking for lost treasure and that is why he ended up in Henrietta , Virginia. He's been all around the world trying to find lost artifacts or ancient things no one believes exist. While looking for the treasure that lie in this small town he recruits 3 of his best friends. Ronan, a smoldering bald headed bad boy. Adam, the poor cute scholarship Raven boy. And Noah, the sweet but messy boy.I'm not gonna lie, At the beginning of this book I thought this was definitely going to be a DNF and that I was for sure going to rate it a polite, and in my opinion, generous 2. Her writing in the beginning was not appealing to me. Instead of showing us that blue was fashionable and quirky she wrote it out for the reader. Point blank. Multiple times."Blue looked at her clothing. It involved a few thin layering shirts, including one she had altered using a method called shredding. “What’s wrong with it?” Maura shrugged. “Nothing. I always wanted an eccentric daughter. I just never realized how well my evil plans were working"I'm pretty sure I rolled my eyes until they were almost stuck every time stiefvater mentioned the fact that blue was eccentric just because of her styling choices. Another thing that peeved me was her apparent obsession in using the adjective "hungry". Im almost positive that she used it at least once every other paragraph. (That's definitely an exaggeration but honestly it was a stinking butt ton). But around the 30-40% mark I got used to her writing style and I ignored any sentence that included the word hungry. After I was able to do that I quite enjoyed it. Its definitely not the best thing I've read and the plot still moved pretty slow for my taste and I absolutely loathed any chapter dealing with Barrington... But none the less it was enjoyable.

I feel everything has been said about this book, but I’ll chip in anyway.Unlike everyone in her family, Blue can’t impress people with visions or other mental abilities. According to her own words, she is a battery, making others’ energy stronger when she is around. She uses it to help the family psychic business. The other things making her special is the prophecy warning her she will kill her true love. How depressing. The Raven Boys are four very different but complementary older teenagers attending a prestigious pre-ivy league private school . The bad boy, the leader, the quiet, and the poor. Don’t worry, this is the simplistic version. Each of these boys carry secrets and burdens. Are you still with me?Now comes a quest, the strong desire of one of the boys to find something very special. Guess who is great at finding things? In the meantime, our frustrated Blue finally sees something. A boy. On a very special day. A vision that seals her fate to those of the boys.I was a little skeptical about the romance. And the paranormal. And the blurb. And the hype, of course. But I think I’m in love. Let me tell you why.The characterization makes it impossible not to fall for a character, or in my case all of them. The variety of personalities creates a likeable group you are bound to root for.Blue’s family is colorful and loveable. Yes, they are psychics. But that is not all there is to them. The author manages to play with the cliché and build a string of interesting women. They are not cardboard characters, there is a background, there is life. A mother raising her child alone, in a house full of creative minds. The boys. A novel could be written about them. Wait, it’s been done. I don’t feel like saying too much about them because I believe no words could describe them better than the ones used by the author. All you have to know is that a leader can me a thousand more things. So can me the bad boy. It applies to all of them. Maggie Stiefvater gave life to characters with distinct personalities that you can’t fail to love.Blue. Yes, it took me a while to get used to her name. Then I remembered someone had called their kid Apple, which is cute, but unusual. Blue became one of my favorite female characters. It bothers her to be seen as sensitive, but she can’t deny she is. She is friendly, curious, clever. It was refreshing not to get stuck with the strong main character with a hidden show-off super power whining about how her life is so boring until the day something happens and bam, she is transformed into a superhero. Blue is different, in a different way (this is so deep!). Her actions, the relationships she has or builds make her who she is, not her power. I cannot wait to see what happens to her in the next books. Her relationship with her mother and her family felt genuine and spot-on, differing in many ways from the usual teenagers-parents bonds we can find in books. The romance. No insta-love. No long paragraphs about longing for each other. No heavy forbidden-love atmosphere. It is only an element among many others in the plot. I really loved the way every relation was built, how deep the bonds between the boys were, and how love took its place without causing waves or demanding tear-jerking chapters.Back to the plot now. Psychics, Magic. A dead king. A quest. Trees. Nothing that appeals to me. Except this time. Everything is framed so perfectly that it creates a suspenseful and absorbing story that leaves you turning pages faster than the wind gets rid of a tree’s leaves. Don’t dread falling into something too supernatural for you, the right balance keeps you knee-deep in reality while sending you down the magic road. The writing. I don’t even know what to say. I wish I used words the way Maggie Stiefvater does. She makes the trees alive, turns conversations between teenagers into something entertaining, powerful, or the saddest thing you’ve ever read. She gives nouns and verbs a deeper meaning. Feelings become tangible. Her writing style made me hungry for more.If case you hadn’t noticed by now, I fell in love with everything in this book. The story swept me away and the characters filled every chapter with life. I finished this book last night, and I miss everything about it. Isn’t it what you call a book hangover? Don’t send my a doctor or aspirin, I’m happy here.
