No. No. Nonononono.Story is as good as ever, but the switch in artwork a third of the way through is jarring and makes zero sense (and yes I get the "changes" references through the story.) Jen Bartel does amazing work and I'm sure the other artist are very talented- but their styles don't fit. Jem is about empowered women, but also glam. The images by the other artists are over simplified and to put it bluntly, ugly.I know it's a deliberate style choice to have characters with two eye dots as the only facial features- but compared to earlier editions it comes off as sloppy and lazy.I enjoyed seeing other versions of the characters in single page vignettes, but continuing the story in a wholly different style was the wrong move. It's totally outrageous (in a bad way.)So disappointed that THIS is how we are being introduced to the Stingers.

Let me just get something off my chest: I hate the art in this book. Hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it. The color-saturated, glam, gorgeous art by Sophie Campbell really set the bar high for this series and every single page she doesn't do suffers for her absence. The art in this book isn't just so-so or uninspired -- the blocky and underdetailed features in this book are literally the opposite of what I've come to expect from this series and there were times when it was almost grating.If you can't afford Campbell for every story or there are conflicts that prevent her from working, can you at least source artists with styles that are similar to hers?Okay, with that off my best . . . the story here is actually pretty good. A new band from Europe, the Stingers, emerges to disturb the fragile peace between the Misfits and the Holograms. Personnel problems, as usual, play a big role in the story and the storyline with Jerrica starting to lose the grip on her own personality in the midst of Jem's glamour is intriguing. I do want to continue this story, but I hope the next book I pick up has art that is much more in keeping with what I've come to adore about the series.

Storyline is good. However, after the first chapter, the art is AWFUL. It would be fine for a lesser medium, but it really falls short from the earlier books. There is no attention to detail, the character look like a badly printend newspaper strip. It feels like they were in a hurry and just wanted to get the book done. Very disappointed.

First, let me acknowledge this issue has its problems. Some of these problems may be too much for some people, but I'm a generally easy-going sort. That said, there are definite issues with not only the artwork (as others have mentioned) but the writing.The first two chapters have pretty solid and pretty artwork, as to be expected. The entire Stingers arc, which makes up the majority of the book, has a much simpler style of artwork that I definitely didn't like at first read. Like others have said, its much simpler and less detailed in places As the chapters progress, the artwork does pick up more detail and I thought the masquerade had comparable detail to other issues in the series. The nice thing about the Stingers arc artwork is that the characters are super expressive -- something that is sometimes missing in the more detailed/beautiful art. Honestly, the artwork grew on me and if you give it a chance, it might grow on you too. Its definitely different and sometimes jarring and disappointing, but it has its moments and I don't think it completely breaks the series.On to the writing... Honestly, I've liked the story less since Dark Jem came out. It feels sort of jumbled and unclear. Like the story is trying to pay homage to the original cartoon but doesn't know exactly how to do that while still doing its own thing. In this issue, that results in pacing issues and weird skips over what you'd think would be important pieces to the story. Without any spoilers, I'm specifically talking about the story not at all addressing the narrative jump from chapter 3 to 4. The ending of this issue also felt rushed and somewhat forced. Again, it just seems like the story is trying too hard to follow the original cartoon and gives up too much of its own voice in the process. I wish that the story could be slowed down and really fleshed out.All in all, I'm not going to stop reading Jem in the near future. Its a breath of fresh air to read about strong, diverse, insecure, creative, human characters. Its even better that these are the characters I watched with my little sister way back when. I like that this revamp is attempting to address things like the Jem/Jerrica split and the sometimes hard choices you have to make between following your own dreams or following your family's wishes. There's really great content here and I recommend this series -- now if the next volumes could just figure out how to go about putting out consistent art and writing I would be in Jem heaven.

I enjoyed the story in this volume, but the art really disappointed me. I expect the characters in Jem and The Holograms to look beautiful, and I honestly felt they looked ugly in this one. I feel bad saying this about someone's art style, but it truly just didn't appeal to me. For an already established comic where fans have come to know a certain style of art, the artist that takes over should try to stay close to the already established art style. By this volume for the story, but don't expect much from the art.

I am not a fan of Meredith McClaren which comprised the latter 4 issues of this trade. Jen Bartel's art (which comprises the first 2 issues) is fine although still not as good as Sophie Campbell. McClaren's art reminds me of anime which I like, but it is not what I want for this comic. The storyline is fine and don't get me wrong, I still love the series; I just miss Campbell's artwork which to me was the highlight of the series.

I honestly find these new back stories for old character's interesting. Having raya already a professional musician just seems to work with this story line. What I also like is the banishment of the love steel whole the cartoon had made and sticking with the traditional love triangle with Rio jerica/jem and riot.

the first part of this comic was great! But when "Enter the Stinger's" started, I was very disappointed in the artwork. It was not the usually great artwork that this comic has had.

What do I HAVE TO DO today? How to prioritize the things I can realistic work on over the next two weeks? How do I track and manage the myriad of other challenges? Linenberger has compelling and workable answers to those questions.Second, receiving 200+ substantive emails a day prior to TWC resulted in a bloated in-box full of many land mines of embedded tasks. Stress levels spiked as the box (and deadlines) got larger and required more time to maintain. TWC provides an efficient method to drain that swamp each day, processing the Inbox to empty, placing to do items where they belong...both in Outlook and in my practice.Been following this system for 6 years.Bravo to the author for the excellent improvements in the 5th Edition. Each new edition has been a fantastic read.

I am a big fan of Michael's work. As a lawyer I am constantly under a barrage of emails and deadlines and MYN is the only system that handles urgency well. Now I am able to have clean inbox and a sensible Now tasks list instead to +100 projects list and +150 next actions list filled with unimportant, dead weight tasks with little value. For me GTD keeps you busy, MYN keeps me moving in the right direction.

This is a book that literally "changed my life." I know that sounds trite, or like a cliche, but it is absolutely true. If you are a "knowledge worker" who uses Microsoft Outlook, you should absolutely buy this book. I guarantee you will benefit from it.I first heard of Michael Linenberger when I came across his book The One Minute To-Do List: Quickly Get Your Chaos Completely Under Control in the bookstore. It turns out you can download a PDF of that book at the author's website (Google his name) for FREE. I suggest you check that out, which will introduce you to a simplified version of the system in Total Workday Control (TWC). Also, check out all the reviews for the earlier editions of Total Workday Control. You'll see I'm not the only one excited about this system. If it seems like useful information, buy this book.In Total Workday Control, you are introduced to the simple yet amazing To Do list management system the author came up with. Then he gets into the nitty gritty of using Outlook to get your email and To Do list organized. He literally takes you screen by screen and click by click through setting up both Email and Tasks to make sure you 1. Have a completely empty Inbox every day, and 2. Never let something you're supposed to do or want to do slip through the cracks again. I can't explain how good it feels to empty my Inbox every day. And I am on top of my work like never before. I know the tasks I have to do are on my list, and tasks I need to do in the future will show up on my list exactly when I need them to. All emails are responded to, and I'm working on the most critical tasks first. It's like magic.Like many others, I read and tried to implement Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity by David Allen, but found it lacking when it came to practical implementation. I also felt like I spent more time managing the time management system than actually working! The TWC system works synergistically with GTD, if that's what you're into. But if you've never read GTD, you won't be missing anything, because this is a stand alone system. And the strength of this book is in the implementation. You will know exactly what to do and how to do it. Every time I was reading and thought to myself, "That sounds good, but what about...?", my question was answered within a sentence or two. It was like he was reading my mind! That's because the author has "been there, done that" and knows what it's like in the real world. You'll swear this guy has been following you around, watching what you do all day, and then came up with solutions just for you.By the way, if you don't use Outlook, but are still interested in this amazing system, check out the author's website. He has solutions for you, too.Get this book. You'll be glad you did.

I have used Outlook for a very long time. I have followed the author for a number of years and I always learn something and improve on my system of organization in Outlook from his books. But I have to say, he has really outdone himself with this 4th Edition. I found myself fascinated with the depth of knowledge with the Outlook software. I have found over the years a number of nagging issues with the program, so it was a real bonus to have those issues addressed in this book. I read it cover-to-cover; did not want to miss a drop. Not only have I improved time management, but my knowledge of this fairly complex, and powerful piece of software has greatly improved. And believe me I have read a number of Outlook books over the years; nothing compares. Thank you Mr. Linenberger.

Like many people, I know how to use Outlook well and have been for many years, but never have been taught a formal "process" for managing floods of emails and tasks. To that end, this book is a game changer.I think the book paid for itself in the first day. I no longer worry about really important tasks getting lost in an inbox 100 ft deep. At the end of every day, my inbox is literally empty. And the anxiety of looking at overdue tasks in red and having to sift through a lot of tasks that aren't due for a number of weeks are things of the past.Don't even think twice- but this book. I am sure there are other systems out there that work just as well if not better. If you're a biochem lab prof use a different text. This book has a very complicated way of explaining very simple biochemistry concepts.It's is very unclear throughout the experiments what is required.There is definitely a better book out there to teach you biochemistry lab concepts.Lots of typos also, unprofessional.

Book has various important Biochemistry methods in an easy to read format.

Leaves a lot to be desired in terms of content depth and organization.

The writing is difficult and hard to understand.

I needed the book for the class, I am hoping it will help me. The prof we have is not good so that will make it worse.

Ok lab introductions, but I cannot tell you how it is for lab procedure as my course had its own protocols. Only get it if required for class.

Excellent Book! Covers the issues very well.

Profoundly and beautifully written...deeply evocative. I recommend this amazing story, to those who want to heighten their consciousness and experience esoteric awareness.

I was fortunate to receive this book through a Goodreads Giveaway by the author, David Shuch.Being that it is a short book of only 93 pages, I expected to quickly fly through its pages in a day our two; instead, I found myself savoring each chapter. I slowly read, and even reread, the passages; wanting, not just to read, to take in and feel his words. I found the chapter "Time" to be my favorite, and the most fitting for my life.Unlike most of the books I read, this is a short story written in a lyrical poetic style, at least that's how I see it.I enjoyed it so much that I think I'll purchase a copy for my former College English teacher. She taught me to look for the deeper meaning of words in poetry, and gave me a new appreciation for it.Thank you Nancy Long!

This is a lovely book of passages leading you on a journey with Maldeline. She sits by the shoreline as the sun gradually begins to rest and she remembers with fondness of the time in her youth that she found enlightenment from Simon the charm carver. Simon is the restorer of one's soul and spirit. He brings sense of that which we cannot understand and teaches us through a journey of passages; that we don't have to understand everything but simply have hope and faith. We discover healing, hope and love.My cousin won this book via goodreads and I borrowed it. I now have it on my list to purchase as I want my own copy. Simply refreshing and peaceful to one's soul and heart.
